Blake Cassels & Graydon tops H1 2026 mining M&A by deal value

In H1 2026, the firm advised on mining transactions totaling $13.8bn, with GlobalData saying its total deal value more than tripled versus H1 2025.

Blake Cassels & Graydon emerged as the leading legal adviser for metals and mining sector mergers and acquisitions in the first half of 2026 by total deal value, according to a league table from GlobalData. The outlet said the firm topped the value rankings after advising on deals worth $13.8bn.

Cassels Brock & Blackwell ranked second for value, with transactions totaling $13.1bn, followed by Fasken Martineau DuMoulin at $12.1bn, McCarthy Tetrault at $12.0bn, and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison at $11.4bn.

On deal volume, Cassels Brock & Blackwell led by handling 13 transactions, while Blake Cassels & Graydon was third with 12 deals. GlobalData lead analyst Aurojyoti Bose said Cassels Brock & Blackwell saw a 44.4% increase in the number of deals advised in H1 2026 compared with H1 2025, lifting it to the top by volume.

GlobalData also said Blake Cassels & Graydon improved from third by value in H1 2025 to first in H1 2026 after its total advised deal value increased by more than threefold, and it advised on five billion-dollar deals during the period. The league table is based on GlobalData tracking company and advisory websites and related sources, along with submissions from advisers.
