Doctor pushes bicycle through floodwaters to reach surgery patients

A doctor in northeastern China became a viral topic after a video showed him pushing his bicycle through floodwaters while trying to reach his workplace during torrential rain, according to Xinhua, cited by SCMP Economy.
The footage drew widespread attention after online users learned the doctor had surgery appointments for two patients that day, with the incident occurring on July 13 in Shenyang, Liaoning province.
SCMP Economy reported that the storm brought precipitation of 230mm, and local authorities said it was the heaviest rainfall since 1951, as roads flooded and most public transport was paralyzed.
Under China’s laws, the outlet noted that medical workers and other special duty personnel are expected to remain at their posts despite severe weather disruptions.
