Jackson Financial names CEO and CFO successors effective Oct. 1

The planned transition includes Don Cummings moving to CEO, with Brian Walta replacing him as CFO on Oct. 1.

Jackson Financial Inc. announced a planned dual succession as Laura Prieskorn, president and chief executive officer, will retire at the end of 2026, following an October 1 leadership handover. Prieskorn will remain as an advisor through December 31 to support the changeover, according to Insurance Business.

Don Cummings, currently executive vice president and chief financial officer, will succeed Prieskorn as president and CEO effective October 1 and will also join the JFI board of directors on that date. Brian Walta will succeed Cummings as EVP and CFO, also effective October 1, Insurance Business reported.

The company said Prieskorn joined Jackson nearly 40 years ago and previously led the firm through its demerger from Prudential plc. Under her watch, Jackson reported record full-year 2025 retail annuity sales of $19.7 billion, up 10 percent year-on-year, and adjusted operating earnings of $22.67 per diluted share.

Insurance Business also noted Jackson’s recent strategy update, including a 10-year investment management partnership with TPG that began in January 2026, under which TPG will manage at least $12 billion in assets for Jackson with a long-term target of $20 billion. Cummings said he looks forward to building on the company’s momentum and positioning Jackson for continued long-term success.
