Rocket Lab wins $266 million Air Force contract for 12 suborbital launches
The firm-fixed-price agreement, managed by the U.S. Space Systems Command, runs through December 2028 and includes options for six more missions.
Rocket Lab’s stock edged higher in intraday trading on July 22, after the company announced it secured a $266 million firm-fixed-price contract from the U.S. Air Force for 12 suborbital launches using its Electron rocket.
The deal includes options for an additional six missions and will be managed by the U.S. Space Systems Command, supporting launches from Alaska’s Pacific Spaceport Complex. The contract period runs through December 2028.
According to Yahoo Finance, the contract builds on a prior $190 million award earlier this year and centers on HASTE, the Hypersonic Accelerator Suborbital Test Electron program, which is designed around a suborbital version of the Electron rocket.
The announcement is also expected to strengthen Rocket Lab’s expanding government launch portfolio as it deepens its focus on national security and defense missions.
