Russian missile strike kills 10 at Ukraine defense event

The strike hit a private training ground in Ukraine's Kyiv region where defense industry representatives were attending events, with officials reporting almost 100 injuries.

A Russian ballistic missile strike on Friday in Ukraine's Kyiv region killed 10 people and injured almost 100 others at a site hosting a defense industry event, according to Ukrainian officials and industry representatives.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said efforts to determine what happened were under way, and he described an ongoing rescue operation in the region.

The acting governor of Kyiv region, Ruslan Oliynyk, said preliminary information indicates the ballistic missile strike hit a private training ground where events were taking place.

The Ukrainian Council of Defence Industry, which says it is the country's largest association of private defense manufacturers, said the missile strike hit a site where representatives of Ukraine's defense industry were present, Reuters reported.
