Thousands turn out for five-day Ani-Com and Games fair in Hong Kong
The five-day event opened Friday at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, with some attendees using fast track tickets to reach Sanrio merchandise sooner.
Thousands of visitors have flocked to the five-day Ani-Com and Games Hong Kong fair, drawing fans to collectibles and interactive activities such as limited-edition merchandise, Hello Kitty plush toys, Spider-Man figurines, and spinning top contests, the South China Morning Post reports.
The fair opened Friday at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, with some attendees arriving early to secure limited releases before opening hours. According to the report, a 21-year-old university student, Eric Yip, was selected in a lucky draw as one of the first 300 visitors and arrived at 7am to buy a standard HK$50 admission ticket.
The outlet also reports that Yip said he was prepared to spend more than HK$1,000 on merchandise. Two visitors in their 20s, Verna Liu and Kasa Liu, paid an additional HK$100 for fast track tickets and waited more than an hour before entering, saying they were especially looking forward to Sanrio’s long-legged Hello Kitty products, which they said were only available through limited sales channels.
