Dollar mixed as oil-linked supply fears ease on U.S.-Iran talks
The dollar held steady versus the yen after a run to 40-year highs, while the Swiss franc and the euro both edged lower against the greenback.
Stocks ended the week mixed, but the currency market was more restrained as traders weighed geopolitics and upcoming policy risk, according to Forexlive.
In foreign exchange, the U.S. dollar was mixed versus major peers. The Australian dollar rose 0.17% and the New Zealand dollar gained 0.24%, while the Swiss franc slipped 0.20% against the dollar and the euro eased 0.08%.
USDJPY was unchanged after surging to 40-year highs earlier in the week, and the British pound rose 0.05% versus the U.S. dollar.
Forexlive also pointed to Canada data and oil prices for context, noting Canada’s producer and raw materials prices fell sharply in June. It attributed the move largely to energy costs after a tentative U.S.-Iran agreement reduced concerns about oil supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz.
