Arizona State launches new degree aimed at influencer careers
The four-year BA in Content Creation will train students in content strategy, audience analytics, and includes a capstone requiring them to build a real audience.
Arizona State University is launching a new Bachelor of Arts in Content Creation through its Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, offering a four-year path focused on becoming professional content creators, digital storytellers, and influencers, according to Yahoo Finance.
The program was approved by the university senate earlier this year and arrives as the creator economy expands into a multibillion-dollar industry, with Yahoo Finance citing a global valuation of over $250 billion and more than 200 million Americans earning income via platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and podcasts.
Students will learn skills including content strategy, personal branding, audience analytics, multimedia production, podcasting, social media marketing, and videography, with Yahoo Finance adding that the curriculum is designed to help students analyze performance across platforms and test content strategies using audience data.
The course lineup includes a class titled “How to Become an Influencer,” and the program culminates in a capstone where students are expected to grow a real audience, with Yahoo Finance noting students can choose platforms such as TikTok.
