ADM plans multimillion-dollar upgrades to Optima grain elevator

The project aims to cut train unload times by about 50% and add 150 cars of track capacity to boost corn and corn gluten feed pellet throughput.

ADM is planning a multimillion-dollar investment to increase throughput at its grain elevator in Optima, Oklahoma, with upgrades intended to help the facility move higher volumes of grain and feed products more efficiently. The expansion is designed to strengthen the flow of corn and related feed ingredients through ADM’s North American supply chain.

A key part of the plan is reducing train unload times by roughly 50%, which is expected to increase the facility’s throughput of both corn and corn gluten feed pellets. The project will add 150 cars of additional track capacity and install one new rail unloading pit equipped with two hard car diggers.

ADM said the Optima facility is important to connecting grain and feed products to livestock markets in the Panhandle region, where it serves one of the country’s largest livestock-feeding areas. Company executives also noted the investments are meant to make unloading safer, more reliable, and more efficient, while providing flexibility to meet customers’ needs as demand continues to grow.
