Amazon seeks federal approval to launch satellites for direct-to-device network

Amazon is pursuing federal approval to launch 5,105 satellites as part of a direct-to-device network, according to CNBC Markets.

The plan will partly rely on satellite assets from Globalstar, which Amazon announced it would acquire in April for roughly $11.6 billion.

CNBC World reports the application and network proposal are tied to that proposed Globalstar deal.
