Empery closes AI data center stake after selling 1,400 BTC

Empery said it sold 1,400 BTC from May 7 through July 10, generating about $87.1 million in gross proceeds, part of which went to repay $10 million of debt.

Empery Digital, a Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin treasury company, has closed an AI infrastructure investment as part of a shift in its capital allocation strategy, after selling a portion of its Bitcoin holdings. The company said it completed a $20 million preferred-equity stake in Cardinal Data Power on July 20, taking an approximately 8% stake in the Hunt Properties-affiliated developer.

CryptoSlate reports the Cardinal investment is part of an approximately $70 million Series A intended to support Cardinal’s proposed West Texas data-center campus. Empery said the deal’s future elements remain projections, including data-center capacity, converting a campus letter of intent into a binding lease, and power-delivery timing.

The company’s pivot follows disclosure that it sold 1,400 BTC from May 7 through July 10 at an average price of $62,200, for approximately $87.1 million in gross proceeds. As of July 10, Empery reported holding 1,514 BTC, about $73.9 million in treasury cash, and $45 million outstanding on its debt facility.

CryptoSlate also notes Empery said it used part of the proceeds to repay $10 million of debt and earmarked additional cash for a separate Midwest property acquisition, stockholder litigation expenses, and operations. The company previously discontinued its treasury dashboard on June 30, saying NAV reporting based on Bitcoin holdings no longer fully reflected total company NAV.
