Fuse launches healthcare and senior living analytics vertical for insurers

The move targets a healthcare professional liability market where primary rates are up 5.0% to 15.0%, excess layers are rising 20.0% to 30.0%, and senior living renewals are up 5.0% to 20.0%.

Fuse, an AI-powered commercial insurance intelligence platform, launched a new Healthcare & Senior Living vertical, its eighth industry hub, joining areas that include Agriculture, Transportation, Contractors, Habitational, Workers Compensation, Main Street Commercial, Hospitality, and Cyber.

The company said healthcare professional liability is among the most stressed classes heading through 2026, with primary rates running 5.0% to 15.0%, excess layers increasing 20.0% to 30.0%, and certain high-severity venues seeing increases above 30.0%. Senior living renewals are running 5.0% to 20.0%, while established carriers have cut available limits in many cases from $15 million to $5 million or less, and some longtime senior care writers have exited the class entirely, according to Fuse.

Fuse attributed the market pressure largely to severity, noting the top 50 medical malpractice verdicts averaged $56 million in 2024, up 75.0% from $32 million in 2022, with multiple verdicts exceeding $100 million by early 2026. The company also pointed to third-party litigation funding as being associated with higher payouts and longer resolution timelines, and said underwriters are tightening abuse coverage across excess towers and scrutinizing memory care exposure.

The platform’s new vertical is designed to synthesize regulatory rate filings, carrier appetite and capacity signals, verdict and litigation trends, and venue risk indicators, spanning hospitals, physician groups, allied health, behavioral health, home health, and senior living facilities. Fuse said the vertical is intended to help brokers and insurers monitor how conditions can differ by venue, as some accounts can see a flat renewal from one carrier and a 30.0% increase with half the limit from another.
