Howden names Miami HQ for Americas commercial insurance broking

Howden said Miami connectivity drove the decision and that it employs more than 1,300 people and serves 3,000 clients across the US after launching US retail broking about a year ago.

Global insurance broker Howden has designated Miami as the headquarters for its Americas commercial insurance broking business, positioning the city as a base for growth across the region.

The company said the move follows roughly one year since it launched US retail broking, and it has since built more than 20 industry-specific broking teams in the United States. Howden also expanded its US platform with private capital, employee health and benefits, and private client groups, and it now counts more than 1,300 employees and 3,000 clients, covering middle market to large enterprise companies.

Howden Americas CEO Mike Parrish said Miami was chosen because of the city’s global business connectivity, adding that it is the only global broker based there. The article also notes that Lloyd’s of London and Allianz Commercial have established Miami hubs to centralize Latin America and Caribbean operations.

The Miami designation aligns with Howden’s Latin America and Caribbean footprint, which the company says has grown to more than 1,000 employees across 12 offices in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Chile. Insurance Business also points to the scale of the opportunity, citing McKinsey’s Global Insurance Report 2025 that measured Latin America gross written premiums at $213 billion in 2024 and found premiums rose at an 11% compound annual rate from 2019 to 2024.
