Mike Flanagan tapped for Warhammer 40,000 adaptations
Games Workshop also said it almost completed a new Warhammer-inspired Secret Level episode and has started work on a Space Marine Deathwatch animated series.
Games Workshop has recruited horror director Mike Flanagan to work on upcoming Warhammer 40,000 screen adaptations, with the company saying he is set to begin scripts soon, according to BBC Business.
The company reiterated that Henry Cavill remains involved in TV and film projects tied to the tabletop wargame and said production company United Artists has also been added, though it did not specify whether Flanagan will work on a film or a series.
In its annual financial report, Games Workshop said it is nearing completion on a new Warhammer-inspired episode for Amazon Prime Video anthology series Secret Level and that work has begun on a full animated series based on its Space Marine Deathwatch characters.
The update came alongside financial commentary that Games Workshop reported a drop in licensing video game revenue amid a challenging industry backdrop, while also pointing to four new video game tie-ins this year and continued income from 2024 blockbuster Space Marine 2. Separately, chief executive Kevin Rountree said the firm paid about 12 million pounds in tariffs and reclaimed 7.8 million pounds after a US Supreme Court ruling, and it expects to pay about 13 million pounds in the next business year.
