SEC Chair Atkins backs the crypto Clarity Act amid August recess push
Atkins said he is committed to supporting Congress in advancing the bill, which lawmakers are aiming to pass before the August recess.
Bitcoin Magazine reports that SEC Chairman Paul Atkins has thrown his support behind the long awaited crypto market structure bill, known as the Clarity Act.
Writing on X Tuesday, Atkins said he was committed to supporting Congress in advancing the legislation, as lawmakers look to move it before Congress departs for the August recess.
The article says the bill was drafted bipartisanly, but some Democrats are unhappy with the current version and a prior statement from Democrats argued it falls short.
Bitcoin Magazine also notes that the Clarity Act has been in deadlock for much of 2026, including concerns from major bankers about stablecoin yield and deposit base impacts, while a revised version introduced last week adds an ethics related ban on officials and their families from issuing or promoting crypto.
