Swiss franc holds steady vs dollar ahead of Fed decision

USD/CHF was around 0.8184, retreating from a June 2025 high, as oil’s pullback and weaker yields reduced inflation worries.

The Swiss franc was steady against the US dollar on Tuesday as the dollar gave back early gains and traders positioned cautiously ahead of the Federal Reserve’s policy decision Wednesday, FXStreet reported.

At the time of writing, USD/CHF traded flat around 0.8184 after slipping from an intraday high of 0.8205, its highest level since June 2025. The US Dollar Index eased to about 101.35 from 101.64, which had been its highest in a month.

FXStreet linked the dollar’s softer tone to extended oil weakness following a pause in attacks between the United States and Iran. Lower energy prices weighed on inflation concerns and helped pull Treasury yields lower.

US data offered limited support, with the Conference Board’s Consumer Confidence Index falling to 90.8 in July from 92.2 in June. The Fed is widely expected to keep the federal funds rate at 3.5% to 3.75%, while CME FedWatch pricing showed about a 30% chance of a 25 basis point hike, and inflation remains above the Fed’s 2% target, the outlet added.
