Emirates adds Crypto.com Pay for flight bookings by eligible UAE residents
Bookings are priced and settled in UAE dirhams, with Crypto.com converting crypto at checkout.
Emirates has launched Crypto.com Pay on its website and app, letting eligible UAE residents pay for flight bookings using cryptocurrencies through Crypto.com, the airline said Tuesday.
Mobile users authorize payment from their wallets in the Crypto.com app, while desktop customers scan a QR code at checkout. Emirates said it settles transactions in UAE dirhams rather than holding crypto itself, and Crypto.com handles the conversion.
The rollout implements a partnership announced in July 2025. Cointelegraph previously reported that Crypto.com received a UAE central bank Stored Value Facilities, or SVF, license, which supports payment and wallet-related integrations under central bank oversight.
Crypto.com’s ability to process crypto-to-dirham payments can also route merchants to receive approved dirham-backed stablecoins, according to the SVF license description cited by the outlet. Cointelegraph also noted that Crypto.com handled about $686 million in trading volume over the 24 hours leading up to the time of writing, and that Air Arabia began accepting the AE Coin stablecoin for flight bookings in May 2025.
