Morgan Stanley launches Ethereum and Solana trusts on NYSE Arca
The Ethereum trust MSSE drew $5.15 million in net inflows on its first day, while the Solana trust MSOL saw about $19 million in turnover with no net creations.
Morgan Stanley Investment Management debuted two crypto exchange-traded products on NYSE Arca, the Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust (MSSE) and the Morgan Stanley Solana Trust (MSOL), generating about $38 million in combined trading volume on their first day, according to CryptoSlate. For the Ethereum product, MSSE recorded 933,715 shares traded on Tuesday and pulled in $5.15 million of net inflows. Data cited by the outlet show MSSE’s inflows represented more than a third of about $14.5 million that entered US ETH funds during the same session, alongside other products including BlackRock’s staking-enabled ETHB, which drew $5.9 million, and ETHA, which added $3.5 million. The Solana launch produced a different outcome. MSOL traded 951,216 shares, with roughly $19 million of turnover, but it had no net creations, while the broader Solana fund complex saw outflows tied to Bitwise’s BSOL, which lost $18.1 million as investors withdrew exposure. Morgan Stanley launched the pair on July 28 as extensions of its earlier crypto lineup, which includes the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust that entered in April. The trusts also support staking of underlying assets, and the outlet notes MSSE and MSOL each carry a 0.14% annual sponsor fee, with Morgan Stanley taking no direct share of staking rewards, while custodians and staking providers are expected to receive an aggregate 5% of gross rewards. In Solana, the outlet contrasts that Bitwise’s BSOL charges a 0.20% management fee and passes 6% of staking rewards to service providers, while Grayscale’s GSOL charges 0.19% and gives up 7%.
