Morgan Stanley launches spot Ether and Solana ETPs on NYSE Arca

The new MSSE and MSOL trusts charge a 0.14% expense ratio and will stake part of their holdings, passing rewards to investors.

Morgan Stanley Investment Management has launched spot Ether and Solana exchange-traded products on NYSE Arca, with the trusts set to stake portions of their holdings. The new ETPs trade under MSSE and MSOL and follow the firm’s earlier launch of the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust.

According to The Defiant, both products charge a 0.14% expense ratio and track the CoinDesk Ether and Solana Benchmark 4PM NY Settlement Rates. MSIM also said it will not keep any staking rewards for itself, a structure intended to distinguish the trusts from some earlier U.S. spot crypto funds that added staking later.

The launch expands the first crypto ETP franchise from a major U.S. bank-affiliated asset manager. The release also notes the Bitcoin trust held more than $381 million in assets through July 16.

In remarks carried in the announcement, Morgan Stanley ETFs head Ally Wallace described MSSE and MSOL as part of the firm’s effort to provide simplified access to digital assets through an ETP wrapper. The Defiant also reports that Morgan Stanley digital asset strategy head Amy Oldenburg tied the expansion to growing client interest and an emphasis on governance, infrastructure, and risk management.
