Verisk acquires McKenzie Intelligence Services for catastrophe and conflict insights
The acquisition will add real-time, incident-level geospatial intelligence for pre-event alerts and post-event damage quantification within Verisk’s Catastrophe and Risk Solutions.
Verisk, a data analytics and technology provider to the insurance industry, has acquired McKenzie Intelligence Services (MIS), a geospatial intelligence and event response company focused on real-time catastrophe and conflict event analysis.
MIS’s tools are designed to support both pre-event alerting and post-event exposure damage quantification, helping insurers, reinsurers, brokers, and loss adjusters respond quickly. The acquisition is intended to improve property-level damage assessments, claims triage, portfolio exposure estimates, and litigation support.
By bringing MIS into its Catastrophe and Risk Solutions unit, Verisk said the deal will strengthen its capabilities in Strikes, Riots and Civil Commotion (SRCC) and political violence risk analytics. Verisk also plans to connect MIS’s incident-level information with its broader catastrophe risk modelling, global loss indexes, and advanced analytics.
The companies said MIS will help clients prepare earlier and respond faster as events unfold, and Verisk noted that its Catastrophe and Risk Solutions introduced Verisk Synergy Studio, a cloud-native platform aimed at unifying catastrophe modelling, exposure management, and risk analytics. Verisk has also expanded its modelling ecosystem via acquisitions including Verisk Model Exchange, which supports evaluation of multiple independent catastrophe risk views on a governed, vendor-neutral platform.
