Analog Devices weighs hackers’ new cyber data claim
The chipmaker said it is assessing the claim’s validity, scope, and potential impact after previously finding some files exfiltrated from its systems.
Analog Devices Inc. is assessing a new claim from hackers who say they stole hundreds of files containing sensitive customer information, according to reporting by Insurance Journal. A hacking group called ExfilSquad has said it breached Analog Devices and threatened to release the data unless demands are met, the outlet said, citing cybersecurity firm DeXpose. Analog Devices disclosed in a July 29 filing that it was made aware of the reports and is evaluating their validity, scope, and potential impact. The company also said it separately uncovered unauthorized access to its systems last month and determined that some files were exfiltrated. The company said operations were not interrupted, the issue was identified on June 23, and the investigation remains ongoing with law enforcement notified. Insurance Journal also noted that the files have not been publicly released or used for fraudulent purposes, and the company is monitoring for signs of misuse.
