Iraq prime minister meets Trump after first trip to Washington

Iraq’s new prime minister, Ali Al-Zaidi, concluded a visit to Washington, D.C., that included a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, according to OilPrice.
The outlet says Al-Zaidi, viewed as a political newcomer, chose the United States for his first overseas trip, contrasting with predecessors whose first official visits were reportedly to Iran.
OilPrice adds that U.S. support could help Iraq’s demobilization process, including through timely intelligence to Baghdad if a militia is preparing an action.
