Jaguar Land Rover to cut fewer than 300 jobs in UK
The cuts follow a September 2025 cyberattack that halted all manufacturing for more than a month and is estimated to have cost about £1.9bn.
Jaguar Land Rover plans to cut hundreds of jobs, and said fewer than 300 people are expected to leave the company under the move, according to BBC Business. The company, which has its global headquarters in Whitley and manufacturing sites in Solihull, Wolverhampton, and Halewood on Merseyside, employs about 30,000 people in its UK operations, with approximately 10,000 workers at plants overseas. JLR’s decision comes less than a year after a cyberattack in September 2025 closed all manufacturing for five months, leaving no vehicles coming off production lines. BBC Business reports the disruption contributed to a 27% drop in overall production and came as Jaguar production was halted ahead of a relaunch of a series of all-electric saloons, while Land Rover and Range Rover lines were also affected. JLR estimated the cyberattack and the subsequent loss of manufacturing cost the company about £1.9bn. The company said the job losses are expected to affect salaried and management roles, not production line staff, as it works to evolve its operating model and support its next-generation vehicles.
