Mezcali and Malt House founders sign lease for new fusion restaurant
The 2 Gold Street space is a 4,744-square-foot retail unit leased for 20 years in TF Cornerstone's Financial District property.
Commercial Observer reports that Eoin Foyle and Darren Shore, the restaurateurs behind Mexican restaurant Mezcali and American tavern the Malt House, have signed a 20-year lease for a new food concept at 2 Gold Street in Manhattan’s Financial District.
The project, called Solerum, will be a Hawaiian-Caribbean-Asian fusion restaurant opening in the retail component of TF Cornerstone’s 2 Gold Street, with the leased area measuring 4,744 square feet, according to the landlord.
TF Cornerstone did not disclose the asking rent, but the report cites CBRE data showing the average retail asking rent on the nearby Broadway corridor from Battery Park to Chambers Street was $224 per square foot in the second quarter of 2026.
The article also notes that 2 Gold Street is a 53-story building that underwent an office-to-residential conversion, with a $100 million renovation in 2011 creating 418 studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, according to the New York Times.
