North Korean missile reportedly used in Ukraine strike killing family

The attack, carried out with dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones, killed at least nine people and comes as Ukraine faces a shortage of high end air defences.

Russia used a North Korean missile in a strike on a village in Ukraine that killed five members of the same family, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Thursday, describing it as the first such deployment in the war in nearly a year, according to Reuters.

Zelensky said the missile flattened a home in Radushne near Kryvyi Rih, killing two parents and three of their children, while the fate of their remaining four children and a 1.5 year old grandson was unclear, based on preliminary data.

The report also said the overnight attack included dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones, killing at least nine people, as Ukraine’s military grapples with an acute shortage of high end air defences.

A military source cited by Reuters said Russia has launched North Korean missiles at Ukrainian targets before, and the first deployment since August points to a fresh stock of weapons Moscow can draw on as it steps up missile attacks, with the use of such ballistic missiles fitting a pattern that only US made Patriot air defences can intercept.
