North Korean missile used in Ukraine strike, Zelensky says

Zelensky said the attack hit the village of Radushne near Kryvyi Rih and killed two parents and three children, amid Ukraine’s shortage of high end air defences.

Russia used a North Korean missile in a strike on a village in Ukraine that killed five members of the same family, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, adding it would be the first use of such a weapon in the war in nearly a year, according to SCMP Economy citing Reuters.

Zelensky said one missile flattened a home in the village of Radushne near Kryvyi Rih, killing two parents and three of their children, while the fate of their remaining four children and a 1.5 year old grandson was unclear.

Reuters reported that Russia has launched North Korean missiles at Ukrainian targets before, but their first deployment since August points to a fresh stock of weapons Moscow can draw on as it steps up missile attacks, with a military source cited.

Officials also said an overnight attack involved dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones and killed at least nine people, with the use of North Korean missiles described as fitting a broader shift toward ballistic weapons that Ukraine can intercept only with US made Patriot air defence systems, the outlet reported.
