Aon says it did not start with an AI strategy, but uses AI for growth

Aon reported 5% organic revenue growth in the second quarter, with construction delivering its fifth straight quarter of double-digit growth from a data-center pipeline that is more than three times its size year over year.

Aon held its second-quarter 2026 earnings call on July 29, where CEO Greg Case argued that “an AI strategy” does not exist for the firm. Instead, he described generative AI as an accelerant for a strategy Aon has pursued for 15 years, aimed at connecting the company’s data, analytics, and people, with an emphasis on revenue generation rather than cost cutting.

Case said Aon is positioning AI to help win business, retain clients, and expand existing relationships, pointing to AI-supported risk and health analyzers as capabilities designed to generate revenue. The company also stressed that proprietary data and analytics are most valuable when combined with experienced professionals and trusted client relationships, rather than technology alone.

On results, Aon reported 5% organic revenue growth in the quarter, including 5% growth in reinsurance even as rates fell by 15% to 20%. Management said growth was more tied to new business and business investment than to insurance pricing cycles, and described net market impact from rates and exposure as within a zero to two percentage point range.

Aon also highlighted that construction delivered its fifth consecutive quarter of double-digit growth, citing conversion of business from what it described as a record data-center pipeline. The company said the pipeline is now more than three times its size compared with a year ago, and that the flow is working through revenue, with new business contributing 10 percentage points to organic growth in the quarter.
