Citadel buys majority of Situational Awareness public equity book

Ken Griffin’s Citadel has acquired the majority of the public equity portfolio held by AI-focused hedge fund Situational Awareness, following significant losses, according to a Reuters report carried by Hedgeweek.

The deal comes after a sharp reversal in technology stocks that forced Situational Awareness to reduce risk materially, setting up the shift in its public equity exposure.

The acquisition reflects how losses in a concentrated market segment can trigger major portfolio unwinds in hedge fund strategies focused on AI and technology.
