Hong Kong law firm drops bid to overturn seized files in probe

Raymond Lam & Associates had sought the return of 68 files tied to 64 lawsuits after police seized them during a Feb. 9 raid.

A Hong Kong law firm allegedly linked to crash-for-cash scams has discontinued its challenge to a police raid after a High Court dismissal, according to SCMP Economy.

Raymond Lam & Associates, which ceased operations in April, notified the court in writing that it would stop the judicial review after authorities seized confidential documents during a February 9 search.

Detectives from the force’s commercial crime bureau raided the firm’s office in Mong Kok and took 68 files related to 64 lawsuits, the outlet reported.

Police said the cases could involve fraud, attempted fraud, and the use of false documents, while the firm had argued the seized materials included confidential client letters and medical documents.
