Marsh supports Meta’s Texas AI data center with risk analysis

Meta’s El Paso campus is under construction and is expected to deliver 1 gigawatt of compute capacity, with capacity coming online in 2028.

Marsh, the insurance broker and risk advisory firm, has provided Meta with project risk analysis and insurance services for a new data center development in Texas that is aimed at expanding the company’s AI infrastructure, according to Reinsurance News.

The work is tied to Meta’s planned data center campus in El Paso, where the company said it is developing the project through a strategic venture with BlackRock, bringing together Meta’s experience in building and operating large-scale data centers and BlackRock’s infrastructure investment expertise.

Meta said the campus is currently under construction and is expected to provide 1 gigawatt of compute capacity to support its AI technologies and wider business operations, with capacity expected to begin coming online in 2028.

The project is described as an investment of more than $10 billion in the El Paso area, supporting more than 4,000 construction jobs at peak and about 300 operational roles once completed, while Marsh pointed to the need to manage interconnected risks spanning construction, energy supply, technology requirements, financing, and long-term operations.
