Ryan Specialty boosts property quoting output by 11% with AI

The insurer said it now audits five times as many property files as a year ago, using AI to expand underwriting oversight and triage work for review.

Ryan Specialty said employees across its Underwriting Managers property business produced 11% more quotes per person over the past 12 months, reflecting investments in automating parts of the quote workflow, including data extraction, enrichment, and rating preparation, according to takeaways from its second-quarter 2026 earnings call on July 30.

The company is also building a proprietary engine to deploy AI within its own controls and train models on internal data. Management said it is using AI to expand underwriting oversight, better identify which files require review, and increase the scale of auditing, noting it now audits five times as many files as it did a year ago.

Ryan Specialty added that its reinsurance facultative workbench turns submissions into priced, decision-ready files in minutes rather than days. It is extending the technology to treaty reinsurance by analyzing years of submissions and claims.

In its property results update, the company said pricing pressure persisted in catastrophe-exposed lines as new capacity entered the market, with prices falling between 25% and 35% on parts of the book. Ryan said high retention and new-business wins limited the decline in property revenue, and it does not expect large volumes of business to return to the admitted market, with more surplus-lines carriers and capacity competing within the E&S channel.
