Scale AI appoints Francis DeSouza as CEO effective Aug. 10
The AI company said it will replace interim chief Jason Droege, who has led since June of last year.
Scale AI said it named Francis DeSouza, a former Google Cloud executive, as its chief executive officer effective August 10, as the company seeks to expand its data and applications business. Reuters reported the transition, with DeSouza set to succeed Jason Droege, who has served as interim CEO since June last year.
DeSouza brings more than 30 years of enterprise technology experience. Reuters said he most recently served as chief operating officer and president of security products at Google Cloud, and previously led Illumina as president and CEO.
Reuters added that under DeSouza, Illumina revenue grew to more than $4.5 billion and the company expanded into more than 150 countries. Before Illumina, he served in leadership roles at Symantec, including as president of products and services, and earlier founded two companies that were later acquired by Microsoft and Symantec.
Scale AI also said it recently added BP and Mayo Clinic as enterprise customers, and expanded its work with U.S. and international governments. Reuters reported that Droege will work with DeSouza during the coming months to support the transition.
