Tether posts about $1.5B Q2 profit as USDT supply rises
USDT in circulation reached about $184.6B at quarter end, up roughly $446M from end of March.
Tether reported approximately $1.5 billion in net operating profit for Q2 2026, a nearly 50% increase versus Q1 2026, according to its latest quarterly attestation, released Friday by Decrypt.
The stablecoin issuer said its reserves exceeded liabilities by about $4.11 billion as of June 30, with assets of roughly $187.75 billion against liabilities of approximately $183.64 billion. USDT in circulation rose to about $184.6 billion at quarter end, up about $446 million from the end of March, even as the overall stablecoin market shrank.
Tether said it added 14 metric tons of physical gold during the quarter, bringing its holdings to more than 146 metric tons. It also reported that most of the assets backing USDT stayed invested in short-term U.S. Treasuries, repurchase agreements, and other highly liquid government-backed assets that generated most of the quarter's operating profit.
The company said it reduced its secured lending exposure by about $2.38 billion, or 15%, during the quarter. Tether also stated USDT's market share increased to more than 60% despite weaker conditions across the broader stablecoin market.
