US and Israel consider campaign targeting Iran energy infrastructure

The reported plan would run over the weekend ahead of next week’s Asian market open, but US final approval has not been given yet.

CBS News, as cited by FXStreet, reported that the United States and Israel are considering a large campaign aimed at Iran’s energy infrastructure, citing multiple sources. The article said Israel has been notified and is coordinating with the United States, while the US president has not yet issued final go orders for the strikes.

The report added that the strike plan was discussed during President Trump’s cabinet meeting at Camp David on Friday, and that some White House aides focused on politics were opposed, according to sources briefed later.

The piece also connected the potential development to how markets often shift into higher or lower risk, describing that in “risk-off” conditions investors tend to seek safe havens such as the US dollar, Japanese yen, and Swiss franc, while bonds and gold generally gain. It contrasted that with “risk-on” periods, when investors tend to favor riskier assets and currencies tied to commodity exports may strengthen.
