US blacklists 43 more Chinese firms over alleged Xinjiang forced labor

The Department of Homeland Security expanded its entity list by 30.0% under the UFLPA, targeting goods linked to sectors that include food and cotton as well as pharmaceuticals and metals.

The White House has added 43 Chinese companies to a trade blacklist intended to block imports tied to alleged forced labor in Xinjiang, marking the third set of US measures against China announced that week, according to SCMP Economy.

Enforcing the Uygur Forced Labour Prevention Act, the US Department of Homeland Security increased its entity list by 30.0% and listed firms across sectors including food and cotton, pharmaceuticals, metals, and lithium production, the outlet reported. A State Department spokesman, Tommy Pigott, said the newly listed entities are connected to goods made in Xinjiang or tied to forced labor of Uygurs and other groups covered under the UFLPA, SCMP Economy wrote.

Among the entities named, Hunan Aihua Group was included, with a US Federal Register notice stating the government believes the company sources chemical foil and other materials from the region. SCMP Economy also highlighted Chacha Food Co, whose snack products are exported to nearly 50 countries and regions.
