Israel says it killed several Hezbollah fighters in south Lebanon
The Israeli military said a soldier was moderately injured and evacuated to a hospital even though a ceasefire is in effect.
Israel’s military said on Saturday that its forces killed several Hezbollah fighters in south Lebanon, adding that an Israeli soldier was injured despite a ceasefire.
According to the Israeli military, it identified multiple Hezbollah fighters overnight inside a “security zone” in southern Lebanon that its forces occupy. The military said that after the identification, soldiers struck and eliminated the fighters to remove the threat.
The statement also said Israeli forces would continue to operate to remove threats to its soldiers and would not allow Hezbollah to harm Israeli civilians. The military said the soldier’s injury was moderate and that the person was evacuated for treatment.
Hezbollah has not commented when contacted by Agence France-Presse in Beirut, and the group has not claimed any attacks since June 20.
