Amazon receives about $600 million in tariff refunds after class action

Amazon has received approximately $600 million in tariff refunds as it participates in the refund process, according to comments shared by the company on a call covered by Yahoo Finance.
The payout comes after consumers filed a federal class action in Seattle, arguing they were owed refunds for paying tariff-inflated prices and alleging Amazon was not pursuing refunds to "curry favor" with President Donald Trump.
Amazon said the refund amount was limited, citing work to forward-buy and pre-position inventory to avoid tariff costs, and noting it is not the importer of record for the majority of items sold on its store because suppliers typically handle imports and pay applicable tariffs.
