Patrolling robot breaks after tumbling down stairs at Hong Kong airport
Airport Authority Hong Kong said the incident happened during a Terminal One test run in a non-public area.
Hong Kong authorities are investigating an accident at Hong Kong International Airport in which a patrolling robot fell down a staircase and broke into pieces, South China Morning Post reports. The robot tumbled during a test run at Terminal One on Saturday, with partial damage reported.
The spokeswoman for Airport Authority Hong Kong said the incident occurred in a non-public area of the airport. Viral images circulating online showed the humanoid robot lying at the bottom of a staircase, with its arms broken into pieces.
According to the authority, the robot operations contractor’s staff were on site and monitored the testing process throughout the run.
