Strategy keeps STRC preferred dividend at 12% despite shares below par
STRC will pay its August dividend semi-monthly for the second straight month after a June change, while the company targets STRC trading near $99 to $100 over time.
Strategy Investors kept its preferred STRC dividend at 12% for August, even though the shares continued to trade below their $100 par value in July, according to Cointelegraph. Executive chairman Michael Saylor delivered the decision in a tweet, maintaining that the payout will not increase.
The outlet also reported that August will be the second month with semi-monthly dividend payments after shareholders approved the change in June. STRC shares were last reported closing at $89.46 on Friday, a 5.42% monthly gain, and the Nasdaq-traded share volume on Friday was about two-thirds of the daily average.
Cointelegraph said Strategy management previously noted that it wants STRC to trade at $99 to $100 over time, without giving a timeline. Saylor also posted on X that “Bitcoin Drive engaged,” alongside a chart of Strategy’s Bitcoin buys.
The company’s latest results cited by Cointelegraph showed an $8.22 billion second-quarter net loss, driven mainly by an $8.32 billion unrealized loss tied to its Bitcoin holdings. Strategy also said it has built $3.75 billion in cash and a $3.75 billion U.S. dollar reserve to support preferred stock payouts, which it said covers more than two years of preferred dividends and interest obligations.
