Trump Media offers Truth Social sneak peeks to high-frequency traders

The service is positioned to help traders exploit millisecond price swings around Trump posts about policy changes, including tariffs and central bank leadership.

Truth Social is offering Wall Street traders paid sneak peeks of Donald Trump’s upcoming posts, a move that raises questions about the profit potential for his publicly traded business and whether the timing could facilitate insider trading, according to SCMP Economy. The system is designed for rapid delivery, similar to fast feeds sold by other social media firms and media providers, but with Truth Social noted for making and posting content that can move markets. The article says Trump’s posts have regularly rattled markets as he comments on policy changes spanning war, central bank leadership, and tariffs. Able Alpha Trading head Irene Aldridge said in the article that, if the behavior were coming from a public company executive, it would be “jail time,” adding that Trump has a front row seat to decisions and is disclosing information ahead of time to a select group. Trump’s press office declined to comment on propriety or whether White House lawyers vetted the service, directing questions to Truth Social’s publicly traded parent. Trump Media & Technology, the parent company, issued a statement blasting Democratic critics for mischaracterizing the service, asserting it stemmed from ideological opposition to free markets or a failure to distinguish between public and non-public information, or both. The piece also describes how high-frequency traders may seek to benefit from tiny, short-lived price differences triggered within milliseconds by Trump’s online musings and threats.
