Hong Kong leader John Lee calls policy address a progress check on five-year plan

Lee said residents will be able to comment during his first town hall and that more than 130 people attended the session in Tuen Mun.

Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said his annual policy address will function as a progress report on the city’s first five-year plan, describing the first simultaneous consultation of the two documents as “especially meaningful,” according to SCMP Economy.

In his first town hall meeting held Sunday as part of the public consultation, Lee pledged to consider residents’ views and met more than 130 people at South Tuen Mun Government Secondary School in Tuen Mun, the outlet reported.

SCMP Economy said the session was attended by all ministers and was designed to solicit opinions for both the five-year plan and Lee’s fifth annual policy address, with participation limited to residents and district representatives selected by the government.

Lee also said the five-year blueprint will provide direction and strategic guidance for Hong Kong’s future development, adding that he has already received a large amount of feedback and urged attendees to share their views during the exchange.
