Ukrainian drones hit Russia, targeting Wildberries warehouse in Samara
The strikes killed at least two people and came as Ukraine expanded attacks on Russian economic and energy targets, including roughly a dozen Wildberries sites since July 18.
Ukrainian drone strikes killed at least two people in Russian regions along the Volga River, while also hitting a warehouse tied to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, regional officials said. The governor of Samara, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, said information on potential casualties was still being clarified.
Reuters reports that Russia’s Defence Ministry said it had downed 635 Ukrainian drones overnight. Kyiv’s drones attacked a Wildberries warehouse in the Samara region, about 800 km from Ukraine’s most advanced military positions inside Ukrainian territory it holds.
The attacks reflect a broader campaign of deeper strikes into Russia aimed at economic and energy targets, according to Reuters. Ukrainian forces have attacked about a dozen Wildberries sites since July 18, targeting the retailer described as a key part of Russia’s consumer economy.
