CUHK plans new medical building and 10th college in Pak Shek Kok
CUHK said it will add more hostel and talent accommodation, and the nearby East Rail Pak Shek Kok station is expected to open by 2033 or earlier, to improve research connectivity.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong plans to build a new medical building and its 10th constituent college near the city’s technology hub in Pak Shek Kok, aiming to expand its research capabilities, according to SCMP Economy.
CUHK president Dennis Lo Yuk-ming said on Sunday that high housing costs remain a weakness for Hong Kong’s scientific research sector, and the university intends to provide more hostel facilities and talent accommodation going forward.
The expansion is also tied to expected transport improvements, with authorities saying the Pak Shek Kok station on the East Rail line is expected to open in 2033 or earlier to enhance connectivity with the nearby Hong Kong Science and Technology Park.
