Clarity Act failure could speed SEC and CFTC crypto rulemaking
Bernstein expects Project Crypto to accelerate agency rulemaking if the Clarity Act does not pass this year.
Bernstein says the outcome of the proposed Clarity Act in 2024 could materially affect how quickly US regulators advance crypto regulations.
In a note cited by The Block, the firm expects that if the Clarity Act fails to pass this year, the SEC and CFTC would likely accelerate rulemaking under Project Crypto.
The expectation is that the agencies could move faster to issue or finalize crypto-focused requirements, increasing the pace of the regulatory push as the legislative effort stalls.
