Coldcard exploit highlights limits of Bitcoin’s verify-first security
In commentary shared with The Block, Bitcoin developer Jameson Lopp argued that a Coldcard exploit underscores the limits of the “don’t trust, verify” security philosophy, even when users and developers focus on independent verification.
Lopp pointed to the way AI is changing the security landscape, saying it can help attackers identify weaknesses more quickly while also enabling developers to audit code faster.
The takeaway, according to Lopp as described by The Block, is that modern security for wallet systems depends on more than verification alone, given how rapidly both offense and defense can adapt.
