Walmart plans 170,000 sq ft Supercenter in southeast Tucson

The retailer bought about 33.23 acres for $6.99 million, and construction is expected to start in the first quarter of 2027.

ConnectCRE reports that Walmart Inc. plans to build a new Supercenter at Houghton Town Center in southeast Tucson.

The project will be more than 170,000 square feet, following Walmart’s acquisition of approximately 33.23 acres of commercial land for $6.99 million from Diamond Ventures.

ConnectCRE says construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027. The company’s existing Walmart store will remain open until the new Supercenter launches.

After Walmart vacates the current building, the space is expected to be repositioned and leased to two or three retailers, the outlet adds. The shopping center also includes tenants such as The Home Depot, T.J. Maxx, Ross, and Petco.
