First Mills starts up new flour mill in Saudi Arabia

The new Mill C adds 600 tonnes per day of wheat milling capacity, lifting the Al-Qassim plant’s total to 1,500 tonnes per day.

First Milling Co., or First Mills, has started operations at its new flour mill, Mill C, at the company’s Qassim Branch in Saudi Arabia, according to a Aug. 2 announcement cited by World Grain.

Mill C has a wheat milling capacity of 600 tonnes per day, or about 201,000 tonnes annually, and is expected to bring the total milling capacity at the Al-Qassim plant to 1,500 tonnes per day.

The company said the commercial start is expected to enhance production capacity, improve operational efficiency, strengthen its ability to meet growing demand, and support expansion into new geographic markets.

First Mills previously approved the project in December 2024, when it was expected to cost about SAR 123 million, or $32.7 million. Bühler, based in Uzwil, Switzerland, was contracted to execute the project, and Mill C’s financial impact is expected to show up in results starting in the third quarter of 2026.
