Malaysia ruling coalition suffers third straight setback in Negeri Sembilan
Pakatan Harapan won 11 of the state’s 36 seats, down from 17 in 2023, leaving Barisan Nasional with 18 and Perikatan Nasional with seven.
Malaysia’s ruling coalition has suffered another electoral setback, with Pakatan Harapan delivering a poor performance in Negeri Sembilan on Saturday, marking the group’s third consecutive defeat in eight months, according to SCMP Economy.
In the state contest, Pakatan Harapan won 11 of the 36 seats, down from 17 in 2023, while Barisan Nasional took 18 seats and its electoral partner Perikatan Nasional secured seven.
SCMP Economy said the latest result follows PH’s near-wipeout in Sabah last November, when it won only one of 20 seats, and a rout in Johor three weeks earlier, where it won eight seats compared with Barisan Nasional’s 48.
