Palantir exec blasts frontier AI labs over IP and model distillation claims
The comments center on a dispute over whether Chinese model training should be blamed for U.S. IP value moving abroad, with Karp pointing to prior distillation by U.S. frontier labs.
CNBC World reports that Palantir executive Karp renewed his criticism of so-called frontier AI labs that he says are distilling valuable intellectual property.
In his remarks, Karp argued that Chinese models cannot be blamed for copying or distilling U.S. work, saying the frontier labs “distilled all the value of IP, everywhere.”
The dispute is framed around how model development and knowledge transfer have occurred across different labs and countries, according to CNBC World.
