Strategy CEO says firm will ride out Bitcoin bear cycle

Strategy sold 1,638 Bitcoins for about $104.7 million and repurchased $81.2 million of preferred shares, while its stock is down nearly 40% year to date.

Strategy CEO Phong Le said the company expects to get through the current Bitcoin bear cycle, dismissing investor concerns about the Nasdaq-listed firm selling parts of its Bitcoin holdings. Speaking on CNBC Monday, Le said Strategy would continue managing its capital structure by rotating into Bitcoin and selling it when needed.

According to the company, Strategy sold 1,638 Bitcoins for roughly $104.7 million. It also bought back 912,143 shares of its preferred stock, STRC, for $81.2 million.

Le said the drawdown reflects broader external macroeconomic pressure and noted that the company experienced a similar period in 2022. He described the firm as actively managing exposure during downturns rather than letting market sentiment drive its strategy.

Strategy has 842,138 Bitcoins worth $53.8 billion, making it the largest corporate holder of the asset. Even after reporting a $8.22 billion loss in its second-quarter 2026 results, Le said next year the stock would rise again, positioning Strategy as a vehicle for investors seeking leveraged exposure without directly holding digital coins.
